On Tuesday, November 12, at 1pm, in the City Council Chambers, the City Planning Commission will consider renaming General Meyer Avenue (from Behrman Avenue to Sullen Drive) to Dr. Rudy Lombard Avenue. They will also consider renaming General Meyer Avenue (from Sullen Drive to Bennett Street) to Taza Green Avenue. This matter is on track for consideration by the Council as early as December 5th.
Let’s support a fellow neighborhood–we may need them in the future.
This is the first step to change the zoning in Lower Coast to all single family. This is our opportunity to support the zoning changes which would become permanent.
BACKGROUND – Councilman King has returned the Future Land Use Map (FLUM) map requests to CPC so that they would have an opportunity to revise them to agree with the requested zoning changes. Additionally, he is proposing to change all of the zoning to single family at this meeting. Lower Coast Algiers is not capable of supporting high density development without vast sums of money for unfunded infrastructure. A study clearly supports our efforts to educate the city of the lack of infrastructure in Lower Coast Algiers.
